Minister Cleveland announces appointments to the Board of Directors of the BDIC

Today, Caitlin Cleveland, Minister Responsible for the Northwest Territories Business Development and Investment Corporation (BDIC), soon to become Prosper NWT, announced the appointment of seven new members and one returning member to the BDIC’s Board of Directors, effective February 1, 2024.

The new members are:

  • Brad Mapes, Hay River
  • Garth Wallbridge, Yellowknife
  • Gregory Merrithew, Yellowknife
  • Misty Ireland, Hay River
  • Patrick Scott, Yellowknife
  • Rosalind Mercredi, Yellowknife
  • Soham Srimani, Nahanni Butte

The returning member is:
Marie-Soleil Lacoursiere, Yellowknife

Together, they will join two current directors, Kenneth Ruptash (Yellowknife) and Lloyd Jones (Fort Smith). These appointments bring the BDIC’s total board membership to 10. Their skills and experiences will complement those of the current board members and provide valuable perspectives as the BDIC brings updated legislation and regulations to life and launches its new brand, Prosper NWT.

The new Board will also set the strategic direction for the organization with the development of a new four-year Strategic Plan aligned with the BDIC’s mandate to help create and develop business enterprises in all industries promoting the economic development of the Northwest Territories.

  • The Board provides strategic direction and oversight, and its members are business owners and/or managers with business and managerial expertise.
  • A BDIC director holds office during pleasure for a term not exceeding three years as fixed in the appointment and may be eligible for reappointment.
  • The BDIC was established to support the economic objectives of the Government of the Northwest Territories in a manner that benefits the people and the economy of the NWT by encouraging the creation and development of businesses, providing financial assistance, directly investing in businesses, and providing information and support.
  • The BDIC promotes financial independence, assists communities, and helps develop a diverse and viable northern economy.
